Well this site is a long time coming, so thank you for being patient. It will focus on color in all aspects, whether it is through marketing, health, fashion and interiors. It will be a bit more general and of course the topics diverse, just related to color. I will duplicate posts from www.CatherinePoole.com when they are related to color.

To honor this occasion, I will post NEXT week’s Thursday’s Kick! this week, as it is about color and communication. All about using color around your throat/neck center to help you with speaking and communication.

Perhaps one of the most often asked questions when I present as The Queen of Color™ pertains to my wardrobe. I am not sure what people expect, perhaps a rainbow caftan or floral moo-moo…something flamboyant. I know I can disappoint showing up with all my conservative earth tones and “grounding” colors. But, the one thing that does stand out is my jewelry, in particular my necklaces.

I often refer to neutral colors and earth tones as “malleable” colors. They can be shifted easily based on accessories. When I wear neutrals, it helps me stay protected and grounded. It is so important NOT to take on someone else’s issues, and staying grounded and focused helps to maintain that balance.

I love the fact lately that my jewelry is getting noticed. So I wanted to talk about color -and the throat chakra specifically. Color around your neck/throat can make a difference in how you express yourself to others, and how your truth is processed by others. Scarves work as well, but I love the energy of the beads and crystals I have. Being a professional speaker and having a career where communication is vital, I will often choose the necklace first and then match an outfit. How do I choose? Well, for you I have included my mental checklist (not sure if that is a good thing or not! Lol)

I am also careful where I get my jewelry and even if it is from a retail store, I make sure it feels good and makes me feel good. Remember my blog on getting your hair cut? Well, think about the energy put into jewelry in the same manner, it is ALL energy, not only because of the color, the crystal properties of the gemstones, but also the energy of the person that created it.

I have mentioned many times, my friend, Christy Napier who owns Harmony Crossings, and has almost 25 years in Fine Jewelry. She couples that expertise with metaphysical knowledge, while also being a Reiki Master…so needless to say, her creations are intuitively guided but also have a positive energy all their own. There is a unique blend of “jewelry store” professionalism with the creative flow of her own intuitive ability to know what you may need to boost your mood or your energy. I have met and worked with many in the crystal jewelry arena, but cannot say enough about Christy and her knowledge and integration of beauty and practicality. In fact, I can guarantee that a majority of the time I am wearing something Christy has created!

OK, specifically I want to talk about the throat center and color(s). AND for you men out there, you can think in terms of the color of neck ties…So don’t feel left out here!

What so many do not realize is how color influences our energy, and it works in two ways. One, by how we reflect it to others, therefore influences them with our choices, either consciously or subliminally. The other is how that color influences our own attitudes, both consciously and subconsciously.

In jewelry it can be the properties of the stones as well as the color, but I will leave stone properties to Christy. I will talk about the colors and give just a brief overview, as this blog is already two pages!

Red and the Throat Center:

Red will help you speak up and speak with energy and conviction. If you have trouble speaking your truth, red can help. HOWEVER if you need to hold your tongue and watch words carefully, either tone it down to a maroon (as this has some blue in it…) or in jewelry’s case, deep blue stones with it, to allow for deep, serious conversation…think of the fancy restaurants with the deep wine/maroon décor-it promotes long casual talks…verses the fast food red…so keep that in mind.

Orange and the Throat Center:

Orange is about creativity, so to help you creatively express your truth -perhaps you are a story-teller, or need to explain things creatively to people, even a teacher, then orange can help with this. I will wear my orange jewelry when I am writing, as writing is an extension of your throat center (it is all communication after all, just not “verbal”…) I will also wear orange to help express happiness, as orange is a very happy color and helps with depression. It is a wonderful balance of self esteem (yellow) and red (action and energy). I WILL be careful about wearing orange when I am going to be in an emotional situation, as orange also brings up emotions. Think about being “all choked up” in reality your orange energy person-to-person sacral energy is in your throat…

Yellow and the Throat Center:

Yellow is all about self worth, self esteem. In lieu of neckties and scarves, it can also represent political aspirations. Wear yellow around your throat center when you need to speak up for yourself and let the world know you are here. Common yellow stones are amber, citrine and even yellow gold can be considered in this category. You want to be careful with yellow if you need to be humble and unassuming.

Green and the Throat Center:

Your heart center and your throat center reside together and sometimes the “line” is thin between the influences of the two. Green is all about new beginnings and new relationships, therefore green around your throat center is all about creating new friendships. Green communicates the confidence of beginning new endeavors and whenever green energy is coupled with blue (the throat energy center) I often think of new business opportunities. If you want or need to stay low key and do not want to attract any new challenges or situations, you may want to tone down the green! Also, if you have issues with airway restrictions, even asthma, green here can help energetically open the passages to your lungs.

Blue and the Throat Center:

Well, blue where there is blue is always good. Blue is about truth and honesty, so blue around the throat center just perpetuates those qualities. Blue is also healing, so if you have throat issues, tonsillitis, inflammation blue is a good color to keep around your neck.

Indigo and the Throat Center:

This color will open up your intuitive channels and allow you to communicate more freely and openly with your intuitive side. Indigo, purples and violets are also good colors to help accelerate the healing process. In part because of the energy aspects of red, coupled with the healing prospects of blue the healing of communication between two people can also be addressed.

White/Black and the Throat Center:

Often when I think about white around the throat center, I think of Clergy and their white collars. White is what I refer to as the Christ Light, and around the throat I see it as a way of communicating the Divine, the Spiritual. White helps you come from your higher self. Black around the throat center is about needing energy to magnify and manifest truth.

Remember the throat center is all about speaking your truth. Black absorbs energy, so wearing black around your throat center is about wanting to absorb and process truth. I think of the black velvet chokers women used to wear and how suppressed they were in regards to their voice in society.

Well, I hope this gives you some insight on how color can influence a certain energy point of your body and how clothing, jewelry and other accessories can be integrated to help you through certain circumstances. If any of you has any questions or comments regarding the jewelry I wear or would like more information on crystals and their properties just let me know or contact Christy directly. Have a great week! Blessings, Catherine
